He said this to a woman doing an ordinary chore on an ordinary day. That's usually where He shows up. There are thirsts that food and sleep and success and even good company won't touch — you've probably met one this year. That thirst isn't a defect. It's a signpost. It's pointing at the only well that goes deep enough.
Jesus, I'm thirsty for things that can't satisfy me. Give me the water that does.
